There are nearly a million people in the Delaware Valley who are at risk of food insecurity. This year, in lieu of mailing holiday cards to our patients, Dr. Pamela Doray has decided to donate $500 to Philabundance to help needy children, families and seniors.
The Philadelphia-based charity has seen a 26% increase in the number of people seeking their services compared to last year. Our donation will provide meals for 1,000 families this holiday season. Philabundance serves member agencies in nine Delaware Valley counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The organization distributed 30 million pounds of food in 2013. Food comes into the charity through local food drives, food manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. It is then redistributed to member agencies and people in the community that need it most.
Our staff makes an effort to give back to the local community at the holidays and all year long. For several years the practice has adopted needy families during the PHMC’s annual Holiday Gift Drive. Dr. Doray has participated in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s (AACD) Give Back a Smile program to help victims of domestic violence. We also support our hygienist, Alison and her work with the Animal Adoption Center, a no-kill animal shelter in South Jersey.
